A journal of simple pleasures, travel, food and minutiae.
I had planted a dwarf pear tree in my backyard a few years ago. This small tree yields the most succulent pears each year. A few days ago, I picked them off the tree to ripen in a basket left outside on my deck. Now they are just ripe and perfect. Today, for lunch, I made an open faced sandwich – toasted bread with peanut butter and thinly sliced pears. That was seriously an amazing combination – sure beats the old fashioned combo – peanut butter and banana. Don’t take my word for it – give it a try!
